About the Speaker

Image of Yvonne Coleman

Yvonne Coleman has worked in nutrition for over 30 years - in hospitals within Australia and overseas, community health centres, and various services relating to the Aged Care sector. She finds there is a lot of curiosity about what constitutes good nutrition and how it relates to the individual, and that staff often informally chat to clarify nutrition-based questions relating to themselves and their families.

Over the years Yvonne has chatted to many different groups ranging from discussing healthy eating habits with offshore oil riggers, to encouraging good foods during pregnancy for the newly-pregnant woman/couple, to promoting better food choices with mid-teenagers, to running cooking sessions for groups of people with vision impairment, to what should we be eating to variously-aged groups, to outlining the impact of prescribed drugs on nutritional health to community-living seniors.

Yvonne is also the publisher of books addressing three uncommon topics -
   - Medications & Nutrition: A Quick Reference for Busy Clinicians. Primarily addresses the interactions between prescription drugs and nutritional health that is currently available as an online resource;
   - Finger Foods: A Three-week Menu & Recipes. Eating a nutritionally balanced diet based on finger foods; and now
   - Food Fun: Food-based Activities for Groups. Ideas focussing on the Concept of Food for interesting, diverse and fun group activities.
